Veteran Broadcaster Exits Public Life Following Harassment Claims

A prominent radio personality from North Queensland has declared he will retreat from the public eye after allegations of a prolonged harassment campaign came to light. Glenn 'Minty' Mintern stated that his personal 'demons' have overwhelmed him, leading to his decision to cease all broadcasting activities indefinitely.

Accusations of Inappropriate Conduct Surface Online

Mintern faces accusations of dispatching unsolicited intimate photographs to several women and sending inappropriate messages to others. Some of the alleged victims are reported to have known the broadcaster since their childhood years. The claims initially emerged on social media platforms, where accusers expressed frustration that his alleged actions had remained unchecked for too long.

One woman filed a police report in 2025 regarding the harassment she allegedly endured, according to the Townsville Bulletin. Choosing to remain anonymous, she recounted meeting Mintern at a professional event before he began sending her inappropriate messages online.

Detailed Allegations and Police Involvement

In her police statement, the woman described how their conversations started with work-related topics before taking an unsettling turn. "[Mr Mintern] sent me an unsolicited photo of an erect penis via Facebook Messenger. He quickly deleted the image, but I had already seen it. I was shocked, uncomfortable, and shaken," she reported.

She responded days later, stating the image was inappropriate and unwelcome, then blocked him on Facebook and LinkedIn. The woman also informed a colleague about the incidents, who revealed similar past behaviour from Mintern. The police report noted, "One person told me … that he previously lost his job due to misconduct."

Queensland Police confirmed the report was withdrawn by the complainant in August 2025. No further investigations were conducted, and no charges have been filed to date.

Employment Termination and Further Accusations

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), Mintern's employer at the time, terminated his contract following misconduct allegations. A former female colleague alleged he sent her unsolicited intimate pictures during their tenure together.

Another woman, Angela Tyack, who worked in regional radio, came forward with her experiences. She claimed Mintern sent her intimate images and made remarks at work events about trying to see her naked when driving past her house. Tyack also alleged he sent explicit messages detailing a sexual massage fantasy.

"He had a whole fantasy that it was going to be a two-way dirty massage that would end up involving dirty foreplay and sex during it and he was describing how he was looking forward to me touching him," Tyack stated.

Mintern's Response and Mental Health Focus

Mintern expressed being 'gutted' over his dismissal from SCA and acknowledged that many accusations of inappropriate workplace behaviour "are factual and without denial." However, he clarified that some intimate images sent to women were "requested of me, for mutual benefit."

In a statement, he said, "I would like to clearly state that at all times in my public role I believe I acted professionally and with absolute belief and desire to further the businesses and charities I supported to make our city and region a better place. Unfortunately my private life was far from that with my demons a constant part of my existence without that being confronted and dealt with."

He has now announced stepping away from all public endeavours to concentrate on his mental health. Mintern, who worked in the region for over three decades offering services as an event host, commercial voice, and brand ambassador, has deactivated all his professional social media accounts since the allegations became public.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Mintern and SCA for additional comments.
