A former girlfriend of Prince Harry has been detained by police on the Spanish island of Majorca following allegations she left a hotel without settling a substantial bill.
The Arrest and Allegations
Catherine Ommanney, a 53-year-old reality television personality and interior designer, was arrested on suspicion of fraud on Sunday afternoon. The arrest came after the manager of the three-star Playas del Rey Hotel in the Santa Ponsa resort, near Magaluf, reported the incident to local authorities earlier that day.
Police sources have confirmed she is accused of failing to pay for a nine-day stay, with the total bill exceeding €500, which is approximately £434. According to reports from the island's Ultima Hora newspaper, Ommanney had reserved her stay using a card that allegedly had insufficient funds.
Court Appearance and Release
Ommanney was taken before an investigating judge in a closed-door hearing in Palma, the capital of Majorca, on Sunday evening. She was pictured being escorted from a court cell by a Civil Guard officer around 7pm.
Following the hearing, she was released on bail while the investigation continues. It remains unclear whether she offered any formal testimony or explanation to the court during the proceedings. The exact location of her arrest has also not been disclosed.
Past Links to Prince Harry
The arrest brings renewed attention to Ommanney's past claims of a romantic involvement with Prince Harry. In November 2022, she publicly discussed a two-month fling she says occurred in 2006, when Harry was 21 and she was 34.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday at the time, Ommanney, a mother-of-three, described the prince as a "great kisser" and a "total gentleman." She claimed she did not believe their short relationship would be mentioned in his memoir, Spare, prompting her to share her story.
"He lifted me off the floor in a way that no man has ever done to me before or since," she said, adding that she believed Harry valued her older, wiser perspective compared to other women in his social circle. She said the relationship eventually fizzled out, though they remained friendly when they met again in 2009.
Ommanney was one of the five original main cast members in the first season of The Real Housewives of DC. At the time she revealed the affair, she was reported to be living in Majorca.
