Laura Byrne's 40th Birthday Party Descends into Chaos with Egg Attack
Former Bachelor star Laura Byrne celebrated her 40th birthday with a backyard party that quickly escalated into a neighbourhood dispute last weekend. The mother-of-three hosted a raucous gathering at her North Bondi home, which infuriated nearby residents and culminated in an unexpected egg-throwing incident.
Midnight Mayhem and Millennial Mums Gone Wild
Laura Byrne described the chaotic scene on her Life Uncut podcast, revealing that her celebration came to an abrupt halt at midnight when neighbours began pelting eggs at her guests. "I feel so sorry for my neighbours. It was midnight. I lost track of time," she admitted. "All of a sudden I hear, 'I've been hit!' Our neighbours started throwing eggs at us."
Her co-host Brittany Hockley expressed shock at the confrontation, questioning, "You got egged? At your 40th?" Laura found humour in the situation despite the disruption, noting, "My 40th birthday party ended with us being egged in the backyard... Like a carton of eggs."
A Family Affair Turns Wild
The evening began as an intimate family gathering, with Laura posing for photographs with her husband Matty 'J' Johnson and their three daughters: Marlie-Mae, seven, Lola, five, and Poppy, seven months. Guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres prepared by Chef Gianni Carrieri while being serenaded by Bondi singer Louis Sam Green.
As night fell, the atmosphere shifted dramatically. After the children were taken away by a babysitter, the remaining guests partied into the early hours, using a smoke machine and belting out songs. Laura reflected that the event "screamed millennial mums gone wild," acknowledging the noise disturbance.
Respect for Restraint
Despite the late-night antics, Laura expressed gratitude that her neighbours did not involve the authorities. "I woke up the next day and I was like, full respect to my neighbour for not calling the cops," she stated. The incident raises questions about neighbourhood etiquette and the limits of celebratory excess.
Notable attendees included Laura's sister and business partner Alisha de Graaf, Life Uncut executive producer Keeshia Pettit, producer Lachlan Pugsley, co-host Brittany Hockley, and former radio colleague Mitch Churi. Other guests included Falcon Montecristo, Hamish Blake's personal assistant, and stylist Lucia Arias Martinez.
The party featured traditional birthday elements, including a pavlova cake with a sparkler, but will likely be remembered for its unconventional conclusion. As Laura Byrne enters her fifth decade, this memorable celebration serves as a testament to her vibrant social life and the challenges of balancing festivities with community consideration.
