Yungblud Heads Down Under: Rocker Expects 'Aggressive' Middle-Aged Fans
Yungblud on 'aggressive' middle-aged fans ahead of Australia tour

British rock sensation Yungblud is set to return to Australian stages this month, and the 28-year-old performer has made a surprising confession about the demographic of his most fervent supporters.

The 'Aggressive' Appeal to Mature Audiences

In an exclusive chat with news.com.au, the singer, born Dominic Richard Harrison, admitted that a significant shift has occurred in his fanbase. He stated that many of his most 'aggressive' fans and aspiring groupies are now middle-aged women. The artist, known for hits like 'Parents' and 'Zombie', expects to encounter plenty of this enthusiasm when he lands in Australia later in January.

'I'm telling you, the older birds, they're a bit more aggressive,' Yungblud explained. 'It's crazy, you know what I mean? The nails are sharper.' He added with his characteristic rock-and-roll attitude, 'I'm down (for it). It's definitely another generation's vibe but whatever man, rock'n'roll.'

A Loyal Heart and Leather Pants Maintenance

However, the musician was quick to clarify that his observations are purely professional. Yungblud is in a committed relationship with longtime girlfriend Jesse Jo Stark, a 34-year-old singer and fashion designer based in Los Angeles. Last year, he declared Stark 'the love of his life,' describing her as 'the most incredible person I've ever met' and his best friend.

In a lighter moment, the rockstar also shared his unique backstage ritual for maintaining his iconic leather trousers. 'So you have a little bit of vinegar, a little water, straight off stage, because they are soaking wet,' Harrison revealed. 'You wash them, you dip them in vinegar, and then you hang them in the sun, and they f***ing smell pristine the next day.'

IDOLS World Tour Hits Australian Shores

Yungblud officially announced on Monday that he will bring his IDOLS World Tour to Australia this month, marking his first return in three years. The tour will see him perform across the country, starting with a show at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion.

The itinerary includes subsequent stops at:

  • Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl
  • Adelaide's AEC Arena
  • Brisbane's Riverstage
  • Perth's Ice Cream Factory

Taking to Instagram, the artist expressed his excitement, writing: 'AUSTRALIA. After 3 years I'm so excited to announce the IDOLS world tour is coming to you in January. I can't wait to be back with you.'

The tour supports his fourth studio album, 'IDOLS', which was released in June 2024 alongside a documentary film titled 'YUNGBLUD: Are You Ready, Boy?'. With a catalogue amassing over 8 billion streams globally, Yungblud has been credited by publications like The Telegraph for 'bringing real rock music back from the dead'. His Australian visit promises to deliver the high-energy, genre-blending performances that have defined his career.
