Victoria Beckham rules out music return after studio session

Victoria Beckham has confirmed fans should not expect new music from her after she was seen in a studio session last month with her son, Cruz. The 21-year-old musician, who performs with his band the Breakers, shared a photo on Instagram of his former Spice Girl mother standing in front of a microphone, appearing to read from her phone.

Cruz, wearing white-framed sunglasses, was in the corner of the frame smirking at the camera. He captioned the photo: "Yeah we got posh back in the studio."

Victoria rose to fame with the Spice Girls - Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner - after the release of their debut single Wannabe in 1996, which marked its 30th anniversary this year. The group also produced hits such as Stop, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are? and Viva Forever, amassing nine UK number one singles and two chart-topping albums.

No new music planned

Victoria also had a brief solo career with her self-titled album in 2001 and reunited with the Spice Girls for a reunion tour in 2007 and a performance at the London Summer Olympics in 2012.

But speaking on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle, the pop star turned fashion designer said: "I mean, I just can’t say no to Cruz. I just can’t say no. He was in the studio, and he said, ‘Mum, can you put some backing vocals down?’ And I can’t say no, so I did as a little bit of fun.

"I’m sure that song is not going to see the light of day. That was just me being a mom saying, ‘I can’t say no to my… my little boy.’ Well, he’s 21 years old." She added: "There’s no new music. There is no more Spice Girls... I passed that baton over to Cruz."

Cruz's rising career

She joked that while she "still got it", her collaboration with her son was "just a little bit of fun". Victoria said: "I’m so proud of him and how well he’s doing. He’s been on tour in the U.S. and in London. It’s his time now. So fun, I’m so proud of him, so proud of him. So that’s just a little bit of fun between me and him, nothing more."

Cruz released the double singles Optics and Lick The Toad last year and performed in cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow in early 2026. He went on a tour of the US with his band in August and also performed at the Reading and Leeds festivals this summer. His debut EP, Wear & Tear, was released in August.
