The Corrs Hint at First New Album in Nearly a Decade

The Corrs have hinted that they are preparing to release their first album in almost ten years, sending fans into a frenzy. The iconic Irish band, known for their massive success in the 1990s, have revealed they are back in the studio working on new material.

Band Reunites for New Music

The Corrs, consisting of siblings Andrea, Sharon, Caroline, and Jim Corr, have come together for the first time since their 2023 tour. The group, which has sold over 40 million records worldwide, confirmed that new songs are on the way after being honoured with a special exhibition, mural, and civic reception for their services to music in Dundalk, Ireland.

Speaking to reporters, drummer Caroline Corr, 53, dropped the bombshell: "We've been doing a lot of different types of things the last few years, and we are recording another album, which I have to say is a real surprise to us, actually." She added, "Every time we go in, we start it, and before we go, we think, oh, this would be no problem. We'll just get in there, we'll do a couple of songs, and then inevitably it turns into something else."

A Look Back at Their Success

The Corrs first burst onto the scene in 1995 with their debut album Forgiven, Not Forgotten, which sold over 3 million copies in the UK alone. Their subsequent albums, Talk On Corners (1997) and In Blue (2000), cemented their status as global superstars. Over their 30-year career, they have amassed a staggering 40 million record sales worldwide.

Lead vocalist Andrea Corr previously spoke about the challenges of reuniting the band, telling This Morning in 2019: "We all want to play together again. I love being the singer in our band. But it is difficult getting us together with the children."

Mural Unveiling in Dundalk

The band attended a celebration in Dundalk, where they posed for photographs in front of a massive 18m by 8m mural dedicated to them. Andrea described the artwork as "fantastic" but admitted its size was overwhelming. Caroline praised the artist, Mister Copy, saying: "These things are really difficult to capture. It's enormous actually. I'd only seen it online, I was anticipating something a lot smaller."

Fans are eagerly awaiting the new album, which promises to be a return to form for the beloved Irish group.
