Robbie Williams has given a deeply personal update on his parents' health during a recent concert on his Britpop tour. The 51-year-old singer revealed that his mother, Janet, no longer recognises him due to dementia, while his father, Peter, is unable to leave the house because of Parkinson's disease.
Speaking to the audience in Germany, Williams said: 'My mother has dementia and she doesn't know who I am anymore.' He added that Janet also does not know where she is. The former Take That star previously disclosed his mother's diagnosis last year.
Regarding his father, Williams recalled how Peter used to sing on stage with him, saying he would 'steal the show' before returning backstage for a glass of wine. Now, due to Parkinson's, Peter cannot leave the house.
Williams also spoke about his mother-in-law, Gwen Field, who is battling cervical cancer, lupus, and Parkinson's. He described her as 'the most courageous lady' who is 'fighting'. His wife Ayda shared last October that Gwen's cervical cancer had returned and metastasised.
The singer expressed feeling 'very strange' being the 'grown up' in the situation, adding that he is 'not ready for it'. His Britpop tour, which began in Edinburgh in May, has since taken him across the UK and Europe.
