Simon Cowell's boyband December 10 have released their second single, Angel, following a turbulent start. The seven-member group, formed on Cowell's Netflix series The Next Act, dropped the track on Friday, described as a 'warm, melody-led ballad about the dizzy rush of falling hard'.
The band, featuring Cruz Lee-Ojo, 19, Danny Bretherton, 17, Hendrick Christoffersen, 19, John Fadare, 17, Josh Olliver, 17, Nicolas Alves, 16, and Sean Hayden, 19, has struggled to make an impact despite a heavyweight team including a publicist linked to Taylor Swift. Angel was produced by hitmakers for Sabrina Carpenter and Sabrina Grande.
December 10 have sold-out UK and Ireland live dates and announced a headline show at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on 8 April. Tickets will be free exclusively for O2 and Virgin Media broadband customers via a ballot opening on 9 March. The band said: 'It's a dream come true for us to play O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire.'
However, industry insiders have described Cowell's project as a 'disaster' and 'catastrophe', casting doubt on a second series of The Next Act. Cowell remains determined to replicate the success of One Direction, but the band's future looks uncertain.
