Pregnant Disabled Fan Called Out by Example at O2 Arena Gig
Pregnant disabled fan defends herself after Example call-out

A pregnant disabled music fan was put in an uncomfortable position at London's O2 Arena after the support act, musician Example, mistakenly singled her out for not dancing during his set.

An Awkward Moment at the JLS Concert

The incident occurred during Example's performance as the warm-up act for the reunited noughties boy band JLS. While trying to energise the crowd during his hit song 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me', Example, real name Elliot John Gleave, 43, noticed a woman sitting down. He directly questioned her, asking 'What are you doing? You look stupid,' after she did not stand up when encouraged.

The fan, who is 27 weeks pregnant and uses a walking aid, was forced to defend herself. She later explained on TikTok, under the username Kxrstyxx, that she had to wave her walking stick in the air for the performer to understand her situation. She captioned the video: 'Getting called out by Example was not on my 2025 bingo card… Sir, I am 27 weeks pregnant and disabled.'

Fan Reaction and JLS Contrast

Other concertgoers expressed their anger online. One fan commented, 'I was FUMING about this! He was so rude and wouldn’t let it go.' Another added, 'I’m so sorry I heard him say later in the concert ‘even this pregnant woman is standing’, I had no idea he peer pressured you into standing that’s so wrong.'

In stark contrast, the fan reported a positive experience with the headline act, JLS. She told The Sun that the band members were 'absolutely lovely' to her and mentioned how they loved that she had painted her walking aid in the group's colours.

JLS Tour Marred by Aston Merrygold's Injury

The concert was part of JLS's highly anticipated comeback tour, which sees the four members—Oritsé Williams, 38, JB Gill, 38, Aston Merrygold, 37, and Marvin Humes, 40—reunited for a limited run of UK shows this November. However, the tour has faced a setback due to an injury to Aston Merrygold.

Merrygold, known for his energetic backflips, is currently performing on crutches and wearing a protective boot after suffering a fall in rehearsals that requires surgery. In a TikTok video with his wife, he explained the situation but insisted there was 'no way' he could disappoint fans by postponing. His bandmates have reportedly made significant changes to the show's choreography to accommodate his injury.

The tour kicked off at Glasgow's Hydro Arena and continues across the country. Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Example for comment regarding the incident with the fan.
