Mariah Carey's Aspen Style & Milan 2026 Olympics Opening Announcement
Mariah Carey's Winter Style & Milan Olympics Role

Music icon Mariah Carey embraced the winter chill in style this week, enjoying a snowy getaway in the luxury resort of Aspen, Colorado. The singer, known globally as the Queen of Christmas, was spotted indulging in a shopping trip, showcasing two distinct and glamorous outfits.

Aspen Shopping Spree in Statement Coats

On Tuesday, the 56-year-old vocalist was first seen arriving at the Gucci store clad in a dramatic, full-length burgundy fur-look coat. She paired this bold outerwear with sleek black leather boots and matching gloves, allowing her hair to cascade in natural, tight curls. Not one to stick to a single look, Carey later changed into a second eye-catching ensemble.

Her afternoon outfit featured a striking tiger-print jacket complete with dramatic shoulder pads. She combined this with black velvet leggings, accessorising with a gold chain belt and a pair of oversized sunglasses, proving her status as a perennial fashion icon.

Major Announcement: Opening the 2026 Winter Olympics

Beyond her stylish retreat, Carey shared monumental career news this week. The singer announced that she will have the honour of opening the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, in 2026.

She revealed the news in a video posted on Instagram, clad in a tight red dress and diamond necklace. "Ciao! Get ready for Milano Cortina 2026," she said, before adding in Italian, "See you at the Stadio San Siro on the 6th of February for the Olympic Opening Ceremony. Ci Vediamo a Milano!"

The official Milano Cortina Instagram account celebrated the announcement by sharing a promotional poster. In a playful nod to Carey's most famous song, the caption read, 'All I want for THE OPENING CEREMONY is youuuuuuuu!'

Celebrating Chart History and a Christmas Legacy

This announcement coincides with another significant milestone for the star. Billboard recently confirmed that her timeless holiday anthem, 'All I Want for Christmas Is You', has once again returned to the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Carey marked this incredible achievement, which marks the song's 20th cumulative week at No.1, with an Instagram post. She humbly noted it is "the longest-running number one single in the chart's 67-year history." The track is also now RIAA certified 18x platinum.

This success follows the recent release of a deluxe digital edition of her seminal 1994 album, 'Merry Christmas', to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The singer expressed deep gratitude to her fans for spending decades of holidays with her music.

While her latest studio album, 2023's 'Here For It All', faced commercial challenges, Carey's cultural impact and festive dominance remain utterly unchallenged as she prepares to take one of the world's biggest sporting stages in 2026.
