South London singer Lola Young has broken her social media silence for the first time in almost three months, posting an emotional message to fans after a career break prompted by a serious on-stage collapse.
An Emotional Return to Social Media
The 24-year-old musician, who cancelled all her remaining tour dates in September, took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal her "head is in a better place". In a candid post, she expressed deep gratitude to her supporters for their patience. "Hey, I just wanted to express gratitude to everyone who has given me time and space to gather myself and get my head in a better place," Lola wrote.
She continued, acknowledging the wave of support she received: "I've felt so much love and support from you all and it has helped more than you will ever know." The singer, known for hits like 'Messy', also gave fans a glimpse of her future plans, signalling a hopeful but gradual return to the stage.
The Incident That Forced a Break
The career hiatus began abruptly after a worrying incident in September. During a performance at the All Things Go festival in New York, Lola Young collapsed on-stage and had to be carried off by staff. The medical emergency occurred just moments after she had admitted online to having a "tricky couple of days" and uncertainty about performing.
In the immediate aftermath, she reassured fans she was okay, but the event led to a major decision. Days later, she announced she would be "going away for a while" to focus on her wellbeing, cancelling all scheduled shows for the "foreseeable future". This included a UK tour with planned dates in Manchester, Birmingham, and London throughout October.
Looking Ahead to a 2026 Comeback
In her new post, Lola Young has now mapped out a tentative path forward. "I am hoping to gradually get back to performing and continuing pursuing my dreams," she stated, before adding a significant timeline for her fans: "Happy holidays to you all and can't wait to see you in 2026."
She concluded her heartfelt message on a positive, personal note: "Life is a journey, nothing is perfect but today I am doing well. All my love always, Lola x." The update marks a hopeful new chapter for the artist, who had previously apologised profusely to ticket-holders and promised refunds, while asking for a "second chance" once she had time to recover and come back stronger.
