Cruz Beckham, the 20-year-old son of football legend David and fashion icon Victoria Beckham, is making a determined bid to carve out his own career in the music industry, stepping out from his parents' considerable shadow.
A Private Show for Family and Friends
On Wednesday, the aspiring musician took to the stage for an intimate performance in front of his closest family and friends. The proud parents, David and Victoria, were so moved by their son's performance that they were reportedly reduced to 'tears of pride'.
Ensuring the event remained a strictly private family affair, David and Victoria Beckham booked out the entire venue. This allowed the family to enjoy the night without drawing public attention. The gig was held inside the former Laylow building in the fashionable district of Notting Hill.
The Exclusive Venue's Celebrity History
The chosen location has a rich celebrity history, having once been a hotspot for A-listers like Rihanna, Madonna, Kate Moss, Cameron Diaz, and Mick Jagger. The well-connected creative Taz Fustok purchased the 6,150 sq ft building in 2014, envisioning it as a place where 'actors, musicians, producers and all the fun people' could converge.
However, Laylow closed down two years ago and is now on the market for just under £6 million. To prevent squatters, the property is currently occupied by live-in property guardians.
Family Pride and Musical Ambition
Cruz performed as the frontman of his band, The Breakers. During his set, he performed his latest single, 'Optics', a track featuring explicit lyrics about drugs and sex. His mother, Victoria, 51, was front and centre for the performance and later shared a clip of him singing and playing the guitar on social media.
Alongside the video, she gushed, 'Wow!!! You look so happy Cruz and we couldn't be prouder we love you.' His father, David, 50, also posted a clip, admitting he had 'tears of joy and pride' watching his son. He penned a heartfelt message about the 'family & friends night' being full of love.
The support extended beyond his immediate family. Cruz's grandmother, Sandra, 76, publicly expressed her pride, as did his girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, 30. Jackie hinted that a debut album might be on the horizon, asking her followers, 'Might it finally be time to drop what we've all been waiting for?'
This performance follows a recent social media clip where Cruz and his mother sang an acoustic version of the Spice Girls' hit 'Viva Forever', which left fans begging for an official duet. Cruz's career appears to be gaining serious momentum, with reports last month confirming he has signed with the top music management company C3, known for working with acts like The Strokes.
