A Florida man stands accused of a horrific domestic violence murder, allegedly stabbing his pregnant wife to death in their family home while their three young children were present.
Christmas Week Tragedy in Oakland Park
Just days before Christmas, on Tuesday morning, deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Oakland Park. The call came in at around 1:00 a.m.
Upon entering the property, emergency responders discovered a scene of utter devastation. They found a woman, whose identity has been withheld, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Mario Alejandro Ramirez, was found inside the home with what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries. Deputies struggled with Ramirez as they attempted to administer first aid before arresting him. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A Restraining Order Ignored
Investigators later confirmed several chilling details to local news outlets. The victim was pregnant at the time of her death. She lived in the apartment with the couple’s three children, who witnessed the attack.

Neighbours reported hearing the violent altercation in the lead-up to the stabbing. "It sounded like furniture hitting and there was a lot of screaming," one resident told Local 10 News.

The grim aftermath was described by other neighbours who awoke to the commotion. "I look and there's a body on the floor, I saw the body," one woman acquainted with the family told CBS News. Crime scene photos showed blood sprayed on a window, and a blue tarp was used to cover the victim's body.
Following an initial court appearance on Friday, Ramirez was charged with one count of second-degree murder. He was placed on an immigration hold without bond and ordered to undergo mental health and medical evaluations. His specific immigration status remains unclear.
