Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan on Coronation Street, is engaged to her rarely-seen partner Lucas, who works in finance. The couple went public in 2020 when Lucas posted a sweet birthday tribute on Instagram.
Tanisha's Romance with Lucas
In 2020, Lucas wrote on Instagram: "Want to wish the biggest happy birthday to the best girlfriend anyone could ask for. You’re the best and hope you have the best day ever! Love you lots!" Tanisha later shared a collection of snaps of the pair that Christmas with the caption: "You are the best thing I could’ve ever wished for. I hope everyone had the merriest of Christmases… sending all our love xxx."
Tanisha's 'Embarrassing Secret'
In 2025, Tanisha opened up about her romance with Lucas. She told The Mirror: "He’s great. He’s very supportive and very giving; he’s the most perfect person in my life. When I get home at 8 o’clock, my tea is cooked, the house is clean and the washing’s been done. He’s really supportive." She also revealed that Lucas helps her with her lines: "He will be the other characters – Dev, Bernie, Nina and Summer. He’s not an actor, so it’s hilarious – his job is the complete opposite of what I do, but I think he quite enjoys it!"
Tanisha shared her "embarrassing" secret about unwinding after tough storylines. She said: "Because I was learning lines for the next day, there wasn’t a turn-off or escape from it. It is heavy, so my boyfriend pulls me out of it. He’ll say: ‘Let’s watch something a bit light-hearted tonight.’ I’m really embarrassed to admit it, but I’m a Disney Channel girl, so two of the films I had to put on to cheer myself up were Hannah Montana: The Movie and High School Musical! Anything that’s light that reminds me of childhood and takes my mind off work."
Tanisha's Home with Lucas
The couple bought their first property together in 2022. Tanisha told her social media followers she "couldn't quite believe" they had bought their first home. Colleagues congratulated them, including Kel Allen, who wrote: "Yayyyyy home owners! A huge congratulations to you both." The couple have kept most of their home private, but Tanisha has shown glimpses of their kitchen, which has white cupboards, grey marble-effect worktops and white metro tiles as the splashback.
Tanisha's Engagement to Lucas
Tanisha announced her engagement to Lucas in the first half of 2025. She posted a photograph of her engagement ring on Instagram, telling followers she was "still crying" after the unexpected proposal during a romantic getaway. Lucas had planned everything, including a pink and white celebration cake that read "just engaged."
