Global superstars Coldplay have been forced into a major reshuffle of their highly anticipated Wembley Stadium residency, postponing two of their four nights due to widespread rail strikes set to paralyse the UK's transport network.
The band made the difficult decision to move their Tuesday, 21st and Wednesday, 22nd August 2024 performances to Saturday, 31st August and Sunday, 1st September 2024 respectively. This change comes after the ASLEF union announced a fresh wave of industrial action, threatening travel chaos for hundreds of thousands of ticket holders.
'We're incredibly sorry for the disruption,' a statement from the band read. 'We were left with little choice once the strikes were confirmed. The safety and ability of our fans to get to and from the shows is our absolute priority.'
The rescheduled dates in late August now create a mammoth four-night run at the national stadium, promising an unforgettable end to the summer. The original shows on Friday, 30th August and Thursday, 29th August remain completely unaffected.
Ticket Information for Fans
Organisers have moved quickly to reassure fans that all existing tickets will remain valid for the new dates. For those who can no longer attend, a straightforward refund process is available through the original point of purchase.
The announcement has sent ripples through the band's dedicated fanbase, many of whom had made extensive travel and accommodation arrangements. The rail strikes, driven by an ongoing pay dispute between ASLEF and train operators, continue to cause significant disruption to major national events.
Despite the setback, anticipation remains sky-high for what Coldplay promises will be a spectacular audio-visual experience, continuing the record-breaking success of their 'Music of the Spheres World Tour'.
