Ryan Reynolds' action-comedy Free Guy has retained its position as the highest-grossing film at the weekend box office for the second consecutive week, demonstrating remarkable staying power. The film earned $18.8 million domestically, marking the smallest second-week drop of any release since Memorial Day Weekend, according to Deadline.
Close behind was the animated family film Paw Patrol, which debuted in second place with $13 million from 3,184 theaters. This performance is particularly notable given that the film is available to Paramount+ subscribers at no extra cost and was not shown at Regal Cinemas due to its dual release strategy.
Disney's Jungle Cruise sailed to a solid third-place finish in its fourth week, earning $6.2 million. The horror-thriller Don't Breathe 2 followed with $5.05 million in its second week.
Free Guy has now grossed $58.8 million over ten days against a $73.3 million budget, with only a 34 percent drop from its opening weekend. This outperforms other recent second-week holds such as Peter Rabbit 2 (-40%) and Boss Baby 2 (-45%). The film also performed well on IMAX screens, achieving the second-highest second-week hold on those screens since the start of 2021.
