BTS Scores UK Chart Hat-Trick with Comeback Album

In a triumphant return to the music scene, global K-pop phenomenon BTS has clinched a remarkable hat-trick of UK number one albums with their latest release, "Arirang". This marks their first new material in four years, following a hiatus during which all seven members completed mandatory military service in South Korea.

Chart-Topping Success After Hiatus

The Official Charts Company has confirmed that the 14-track album "Arirang", released on Friday, has soared directly to the summit of the UK album chart. Simultaneously, their latest single "Swim" has secured the number two position on the singles chart, representing their highest-charting UK single to date.

Historic Achievement for BTS

"Arirang" represents BTS's third UK number one album, following previous chart-toppers "Map Of The Soul: Persona" in 2019 and "Map Of The Soul: 7" in 2020. The album has also dominated the UK vinyl albums chart, achieving the highest physical sales of any release this week.

The group, consisting of members RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook, faced formidable competition in the album charts. BTS outperformed former One Direction star Harry Styles's "Kiss All The Time, Disco Occasionally" at number two, Olivia Dean's "The Art Of Loving" at three, Luke Combs's "The Way I Am" at four, and the Fleetwood Mac compilation "50 Years – Don't Stop" at five.

Additional Chart Highlights

Beyond their album success, BTS has demonstrated impressive singles chart performance. Two additional tracks from "Arirang" have entered the top 40 this week, with "Body To Body" at number 28 and "Fya" at number 39.

Jane McDonald's Independent Success

Meanwhile, Wakefield-born television presenter and singer Jane McDonald has achieved her own chart success. Her latest release "Living The Dream" has reached number 10 on the main albums chart while simultaneously topping both the independent albums chart and the official record store chart.

The 62-year-old entertainer, best known for her travel programming, expressed being "beyond thrilled" with this achievement. This marks McDonald's first release under her newly established record label, Jeanie Productions, and represents a significant milestone in her musical career.

Singles Chart Landscape

The UK singles chart continues to showcase diverse talent. Grammy-winning artist Olivia Dean, collaborating with Sam Fender on "Rein Me In", has maintained the number one position for an impressive fifth consecutive week.

The remainder of the top five singles includes Bella Kay at number three with her TikTok viral sensation "ILoveItILoveItILoveIt", Harry Styles at number four with "American Girls", and PinkPantheress rounding out the top five with "Stateside".

This week's chart results demonstrate the enduring popularity of established artists alongside the continued emergence of new talent across multiple genres, with BTS's triumphant return standing as the most notable achievement in the current musical landscape.
