Zelda: Ocarina of Time UK midnight launch gets exclusive N64 box bonus
Zelda Ocarina of Time midnight launch offers N64 box bonus

Nintendo's midnight launch for the Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will take place on Wednesday, November 4 at the Argos store in Tottenham Court Road, London, where a limited number of exclusive bonuses, including a replica of the original black and gold Nintendo 64 box, will be offered with purchases.

The event is the only midnight launch for the game in the UK, held at the London store which is now a Nintendo-branded location. Midnight launch events have become less common, but they appeal to older gamers' nostalgia for in-person fan meet-ups and being among the first in the country to get the game. While some UK retailers held midnight launches for the Nintendo Switch 2, this week Nintendo is running one itself for the remake of the original 1998 game.

How to Attend the Midnight Launch

The launch takes place at the Argos store in Tottenham Court Road, London, a six-minute walk from Tottenham Court Road Station. Attendees can also take the Northern line on the London Underground to Goodge Street Station and walk from there. The store is not especially big and is expected to get crowded quickly, so arriving as early as possible is recommended.

During the event, the store will prioritise Zelda, but merchandise for other Nintendo franchises, such as Super Mario, Pokémon, and Animal Crossing, will also be available.

Exclusive Bonuses and Store Details

The most significant bonus is the replica of the original black and gold Nintendo 64 box, which was feared to be available only in France. The box comes with purchases of Ocarina of Time and can be used to store the game. Additionally, a free keyring of the titular ocarina is available, although it is too tiny to use as an instrument. Officially licensed electronic ocarinas, which can play songs in the game via the Switch 2's sound recognition feature, appear to be sold out in the UK.

This Nintendo Store opened in April and is intended to be a temporary pop-up location, though Nintendo has not said how long it will remain. It is technically an ordinary Argos store, but around half the floor space is dedicated to rare Nintendo merchandise not sold elsewhere in the UK. The store may become a permanent fixture, or Nintendo could open a larger, dedicated store in London, as the city is set to receive a permanent Pokémon store by 2029.
