Yellow Sub play centre rebrands as Monkey Town Liverpool

Yellow Sub, a children’s play centre at Brunswick Business Park near Liverpool’s waterfront in Dingle, has closed under its previous name. The venue was a popular destination for local families, offering activities for children of different ages, as well as birthday parties, celebrations and events. It also provided food and drinks through its on-site restaurant and coffee shop.

Yellow Sub has now been listed as permanently closed on Google, marking the end of its time operating under the original brand. However, the site will continue to operate as an indoor play centre under a new name, Monkey Town Liverpool.

Rebranding and opening date

In a Facebook announcement, the venue described the change as an exciting new chapter, promising more adventures, play opportunities and activities for visitors. Customers have been encouraged to follow the new Monkey Town Liverpool Facebook page for the latest news, opening updates and announcements.

The transition will bring the European family entertainment brand to Liverpool’s waterfront, offering a fresh experience in the familiar location. The centre will open on October 26.

Monkey Town brand and Kirkby venue

Monkey Town is an indoor family entertainment brand operated by Dutch leisure group 24 Indoor, which is also opening a new venue on Cherryfield Drive in Kirkby. The 16,000-square-foot centre is designed to provide an advanced indoor leisure experience for children and families across the region.

Josh Buxton, the company’s UK country director, said the Kirkby project represented a major investment in family leisure. He added that the aim was to create a safe, immersive and affordable community destination where families could spend quality time together.

Attractions and opening details

The Kirkby venue will cater for children of all ages, with a dedicated under-threes area featuring interactive ball pools, building blocks, slides and sensory play facilities. Older children will be able to explore a jungle-themed adventure zone with climbing structures, crawl tubes, interactive challenges, a Volcano slide and the “Walk of Faith” attraction.

Additional attractions will include an interactive sports pitch, a pixel-gaming floor and a multi-level laser arena, alongside family dining and birthday party packages. Officially opening on Sunday, October 18, the venue will offer competitively priced entry, an all-day admission model and more than 15 local jobs, supporting Kirkby’s regeneration and community development.
