GTA 6 map sold separately, not in boxed copies

Rockstar has confirmed that the physical map of Leonida for Grand Theft Auto VI will not be included in boxed copies of the game, and will instead be sold separately or offered as a free digital download. The announcement came as the developer detailed pre-load dates and file sizes ahead of the November 19 launch.

Pre-load dates and file size

Players who pre-ordered GTA 6 digitally on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S can pre-load the game from Tuesday, November 10 at midnight in the UK. Code-in-a-box copies will be available from retailers starting Thursday, November 12.

Rockstar confirmed the pre-load file for GTA 6 will require up to 212GB depending on the device, matching earlier leaks. The game will launch at midnight local time on November 19, 2026, meaning it releases first in New Zealand, 13 hours ahead of the UK.

Getting the Leonida map

In an FAQ post, Rockstar announced a printable GTA 6 cover art poster and map of Leonida will be available as a free digital download from the game's official website. A double-sided physical version of the poster will be available shortly after launch from the Rockstar Store, either for $0.99 (£0.75) or as a free gift with any purchase from the store.

Previous GTA and Red Dead Redemption games included a map inside boxed copies, but GTA 6's digital-focused launch means the map is being sold separately or offered digitally.

Editions and pricing

GTA 6 will launch worldwide in two versions: the standard edition costs £69.99, while the digital exclusive ultimate edition, which includes extra cosmetics and a one-month GTA+ subscription, costs £89.99. Last week, Rockstar debuted new gameplay of GTA 6 in an episode of South Park, and posters have appeared in Rockstar North's hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland.
