Final Fantasy 7 Remake's Streamlined Progression: What Is It and Should You Use It?

Square Enix has introduced a new difficulty option called Streamlined Progression to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, now available on PlayStation, PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2. The feature, initially added to the Xbox and Switch 2 ports, is designed to let players focus more on the story by making combat significantly easier.

Streamlined Progression acts as a 'god mode', reducing enemy health and damage while boosting the player's stats. It can cut the typical 40-hour playtime down to around 10 hours if cutscenes are skipped. The settings can be toggled individually, allowing players to customise their experience, such as having unlimited Gil while keeping combat challenging.

The feature is primarily aimed at returning players who want to re-experience the story without the combat grind, or those who struggle with game controls due to accessibility needs. However, for first-time players, it is recommended to avoid Streamlined Progression, as the combat is a core part of the game's appeal.
