Dispatch, one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2025, will finally launch on Xbox Series X/S on July 29, 2026, developer AdHoc Studio has confirmed. The game arrives nearly nine months after its initial release on PS5 and PC, and six months after the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
What Is Dispatch?
Described as "a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter," Dispatch puts players in the role of Robert Robertson III, a former superhero now working as a dispatcher for a team of reformed villains. Players manage these misfit heroes and decide who to send to emergencies in an alternate Los Angeles.
The game is developed by AdHoc Studio, which includes former Telltale Games and Ubisoft staff. Creators who worked on The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us contributed to Dispatch's narrative. The voice cast features Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul as Robertson, along with Laura Bailey, Jeffrey Wright, and Matthew Mercer.
Critical Reception and Platform History
Dispatch earned strong reviews, with Metacritic scores of 89 on PS5, 87 on PC, and 85 on Nintendo Switch 2. The first two episodes launched on October 22, 2025, with new episodes releasing weekly until the final two on November 12, 2025. The Switch 2 version arrived on January 28, 2026, but faced controversy over censorship: certain scenes were modified by default, while PS5 and PC players could toggle them on and off.
Xbox Release Details
AdHoc confirmed that the Xbox Series X/S version will be the uncensored version, identical to PS5 and PC. The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, but not on Xbox One. Fans have reacted with mixed feelings. One Reddit user said: "Tragically late as I expect many people have watched others play it already on YouTube as they couldn’t play it themselves." Another added: "Nice... took a while but glad it’s coming. Most likely to release day one with a sale too."
