ARC Raiders Patch 1.13.0 Unveils New Gameplay Modes and Hidden Treasures

Embark Studios has officially launched the highly anticipated update 1.13.0 for ARC Raiders, marking the beginning of an exciting four-month content roadmap for this popular extraction shooter. This substantial patch introduces a controversial new player-versus-player mode, along with fresh secrets to uncover and a host of bug fixes aimed at enhancing the overall gaming experience.

Solo vs Squads Mode Sparks Debate Among Players

The most significant addition in this update is the Solo vs Squads mode, a feature that has already generated considerable discussion within the community. Accessible exclusively to players who have reached level 40 or higher, this mode allows individuals to spawn into matches alongside a mix of solo participants and pre-formed teams. Designed to cater to those who relish the competitive PvP aspects of the game, it presents a more challenging environment where strategic gameplay is paramount.

Participants in Solo vs Squads will earn an additional 20% bonus XP, regardless of whether they successfully extract from the match or meet their demise in the field. This incentive aims to encourage engagement with the new mode, though it may also intensify the competitive dynamics as players vie for these rewards.

New Long-Term Projects and Hidden Loot Add Depth

Beyond the headline mode, update 1.13.0 introduces the Trophy Display, a long-term project that tasks players with hunting down particularly elusive ARC enemies. As participants progress through various levels of this project, they will unlock new rewards for their display cabinet, including Raider Tokens, 300,000 coins, emotes, and other valuable items.

Additionally, a new permanent map condition has been implemented in the Buried City area. Players should now keep a keen eye out for shiny objects on rooftops, as birds have begun nesting in chimneys and leaving behind valuable loot. However, this new feature comes with increased risks, as more players are likely to swarm these rooftops, and flying ARC units will patrol the skies nearby, adding an extra layer of danger to the treasure hunt.

Further Enhancements and Content Additions

The update also includes two new Epic Augments to unlock and seven new quests to complete, providing additional content for dedicated players. Other notable improvements featured in the patch notes encompass:

  • Open Parties option, allowing Embark and platform friends to join seamlessly.
  • Squad Invites functionality, enabling squadmates to invite others beyond the party leader.
  • Various achievement fixes, including corrections for tracking issues.
  • Mouse smoothing and gamepad rebinding options for enhanced control customisation.
  • Multiple bug fixes across maps, audio, movement, and UI elements.

Specific adjustments have been made to maps such as Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, and Stella Montis, addressing collision issues, spawn locations, and extraction glitches. The developers have also implemented a three-strikes progressive ban system for anti-cheat measures, with penalties escalating from 30-day bans to permanent bans for repeat offenders.

Availability and Known Issues

The ARC Raiders 1.13.0 update is now available for download across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Players should note a few known issues, including the lack of a pop-up notification for the Solo vs Squads option upon reaching level 40, and occasional cosmetic display glitches. These are expected to be addressed in future patches as Embark Studios continues to refine the game based on community feedback.
