North East Curry Poll Finalists Revealed: Vote for Your Favourite
North East Curry Poll Finalists Revealed: Vote Now

The top 10 venues in the North East's favourite curry poll have been revealed, and voting is now open to decide the overall winner. The poll, which opened last weekend, attracted hundreds of nominations from across the region, and the finalists have been whittled down to the 10 venues with the most votes.

Finalists span the region

The finalists, revealed this Friday, range from Northumberland to County Durham. The love for curry was so strong that votes also came in for venues in Teesside, which will be covered in a separate follow-up poll for Teesside postcodes.

The 10 finalists are: Soho Tavern in Gateshead, Lal Qila in Cramlington, Lal Khazana in Shilbottle, Fawdon Tandoori, Nafiza's in Low Fell, Jamdani in Whickham, Babul's in Barnard Castle, Jaipur Exclusive Indian Restaurant & Takeaway in Denton Burn, Ruchita Tandoori in Wallsend, and Shikara in Whitley Bay.

How to vote

The final stage of voting will determine which of the 10 finalists is named the overall winner. Readers can vote by finding the poll at the bottom of the article. The winner is set to be revealed next week.

This poll follows on from the previous 'best Sunday dinner in the North East' poll, which saw Porky's in Bebside emerge as the winner last weekend. The restaurant shared its triumph on Facebook, saying: "We've only gone and done it. Last week we found out that we were shortlisted for The Chronicle Best Sunday Dinner in the North East and we brought home the top spot!"

Porky's also thanked its customers and voters, adding: "We are extremely proud and also very grateful to have such amazing people supporting us and behind us."

Now, it will be the turn of another local favourite to enjoy some glory. Reaching the finals stage is impressive, and congratulations go to all those who received the public's votes.
