The organisers of the Fields of Éire Irish Music Festival in Liverpool have hailed the event as a major success, despite significant logistical challenges leading up to the weekend.
Festival overcomes venue shake-up
The festival, which took place on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, was originally planned for Newsham Park in Tuebrook. However, just over a week before the event, organisers announced a relocation to Liverpool's Olympia due to security concerns.
A spokesperson for Fields of Éire told the ECHO: "Simply getting the event on was a major achievement, but the response from attendees was fantastic."
Community spirit shines through
The spokesperson added: "The atmosphere throughout the weekend was incredible, with thousands of people coming together to celebrate Irish music, culture and community in Liverpool. Performances from Nathan Carter, The Whistlin' Donkeys, Aslan, The Kilkennys and many other artists created a memorable weekend that exceeded expectations."
Fields of Éire acknowledged the challenges but expressed pride in what was accomplished. The organisers said: "Of course, no major event is without challenges, particularly following a significant venue change at short notice. However, our team, artists, suppliers, traders, volunteers and supporters worked tirelessly to ensure the festival could go ahead, and we are extremely proud of what was achieved."
Gratitude to partners
The organisers extended special thanks to Chris and the team at Liverpool Olympia for accommodating the festival at short notice, as well as Adlib for delivering audio production under extremely challenging timeframes. "Without their professionalism, flexibility and commitment, the event simply would not have been possible," the statement continued.
Fields of Éire confirmed it will take time to review the event and hopes for a return in the future. The statement concluded: "Seeing families, friends and music lovers from across Liverpool, Ireland and beyond coming together was exactly what Fields of Éire was created to do. We would like to thank everyone who attended, all of the artists who performed, our traders, suppliers, volunteers and staff, and the wider Irish community for their support throughout the weekend."
