Hundreds soak up sun at Tynemouth Food Festival 2026

Hundreds gathered on Saturday for the first day of the Tynemouth Food Festival, taking advantage of the sunny weather at the Tynemouth Priory and Castle, which overlooks the North Sea and the River Tyne.

The festival, which runs across the weekend, has returned for 2026 with a line-up of North East street food vendors, artisan market traders and bars welcoming visitors to the historic setting.

Activities and entertainment

Alongside the food and drink, the festival offered a range of activities, including yoga sessions, face painting and family cooking classes. Throughout the day, visitors were entertained with live music from the Whitley Bay-based community band the Spanish City Rollers.
