Fenwick's 2026 Christmas Window theme speculation builds ahead of unveiling
Fenwick Window 2026 theme speculation builds before reveal

Fenwick's 2026 Christmas Window in Newcastle is set to be revealed on Sunday evening, November 1, at 6.30pm, as billboards hiding the display come down and the curtain drops on this year's festive theme. Speculation is rife among shoppers and social media users guessing what the display will feature.

A Newcastle Tradition Spanning Decades

The Fenwick Window has been a festive staple in Newcastle city centre for over 50 years, enjoyed by generations of North East families. Early displays in the 1970s included Camberwick Green and Pinocchio, while the 2002 Christmas In Another World, also known as the Aliens, remains memorable.

Recent displays over the last decade have ranged from Beatrix Potter to Paddington, Shaun the Sheep to Chronicles of Narnia. Last year's A Christmas Carol theme was widely declared by many to be the best Fenwick's Window in years.

Billboards Up and Reveal Plans

Billboards went up outside the famous department store on Northumberland Street last week to hide the window from view as work continued in secret. A stage and compound are being built overnight on Saturday to ensure only invited guests can see the reveal on Sunday night, with the street closed from 5pm.

On Saturday afternoon, Fenwick posted on Instagram about the upcoming unveiling, sharing photos of memorable displays and asking: "Got you thinking what this year's might be?" The comments quickly filled with guesses from excited shoppers.

Public Guesses and Fan Favourites

One reply suggested: "My guess is Home Alone this year can't wait x. Although last year must have been my favourite ever," while another commented: "My guess is The Gruffalo for this year." A third responded in agreement: "My guess this year The Grinch or Snoopy."

Another theme mentioned in comments on Fenwick's post and elsewhere on social media is Winnie the Pooh, as the character turns 100. The reveal will be streamed live from 6.30pm on the Fenwick YouTube channel.
