Burning Man 2026 has officially begun in Nevada's Black Rock Desert, drawing thousands of attendees to what organisers describe as the "wildest festival of the year." The eight-day event started on Sunday, August 30, with participants, known as Burners, setting up their themed camps across the sun-baked playa.
With only portable toilets provided, attendees must bring everything they need to endure the extreme conditions. Despite the emphasis on self-reliance, they are never alone, as more than 1,000 do-it-yourself camps unite each year to offer a wide range of activities.
Axis Mundi theme and racy offerings
This year's theme is Axis Mundi, which explores the concept of a cosmic centre point connecting heaven, earth, and humanity. The programme is packed with unusual happenings, and a significant portion of the events lean toward the risqué, reflecting the festival's hedonistic and "erotically charged" atmosphere.
The infamous Orgy Dome is being erected again this year after being blown away in 2025. It remains one of the most recognised staples of the event. Other camps include Burner Baddies, a "relaxed LGBTQI+ camp" offering genital printmaking based on a traditional Japanese technique, along with cocktails.
From 'Sexy Jesus' to bottomless mimosas
Camp Blow*** invites revellers to "let loose and get your leaf blown." Two Girls One Camp has been bringing "cheeky slushies and oily wrestling chaos" to Burning Man's Center Camp since 2025. Organisers said: "We're slinging slushies—The No.1 (Yellow) and The No.2 (Brown). Fiber-spiked for flow, booze-spiked for fun. Join us in the Center Camp Oculus for traditional coconut oil wrestling—thumbs welcome, dignity optional, hilarity guaranteed."
Bag o' D**** features giant LED penises lighting up the sky, with organisers inviting revellers to "inspect our d**** and form your own highly professional opinion." The Pearly Gate, described as a "one-stop shop for the afterlife," encourages attendees to embrace their "inner sexy Jesus and foxy Mary" and includes a fetish ball. The Bikini Bottom(less) camp offers morning Tai Chi, daily bottomless mimosas, and a Naked Beer Mile involving four beers, one mile, zero clothes.
