Actor Sydney Sweeney could face legal consequences after climbing the Hollywood sign to promote her new lingerie line, Syrn. The 28-year-old was filmed hanging bras from the iconic letters during a nighttime shoot, but may have violated regulations.
According to TMZ, Sweeney obtained a permit from Film LA for the shoot but did not get approval from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to touch or climb the sign. The chamber stated, 'There was no permission granted to do this, as is required,' and could press charges for criminal trespassing or vandalism.
Climbing the Hollywood sign is illegal as it sits in a restricted area on public land in Griffith Park. The site is protected by fencing, surveillance cameras, and motion sensors. Trespassing can result in a misdemeanor charge, with fines up to $1,000 or up to six months in jail.
The Los Angeles Police Department told Fox News Digital that no investigation is underway as 'no crime was committed,' but the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce may still pursue legal action. Neither the chamber nor Sweeney's representatives have commented.
Sweeney's Syrn lingerie line, financed by Coatue (which includes Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez as investors), is set to launch on Wednesday. This incident follows previous backlash over her American Eagle campaign.
