Royal Mail is marking the end of an era for one of television's biggest hits with a brand new commemorative stamp collection. The postal service has unveiled a set of special edition stamps dedicated to the sci-fi phenomenon, Stranger Things, following the release of its final episode.
A Tribute to Hawkins and The Upside Down
The collection, which will be available to purchase from 13 January, is priced at £24.70. It features a total of 14 stamps that celebrate the characters and dual worlds of the beloved series. The show, created by The Duffer Brothers, follows a group of children in the fictional town of Hawkins as they battle sinister forces from a parallel dimension known as the Upside Down.
Artistically, the set is divided into two distinct visual themes. Five stamps showcase characters in the 'Rightside Up' or real world, set against a striking red background. Another five represent the eerie alternate dimension, the 'Upside Down', with a cool blue backdrop. This design cleverly allows each vertical pair of stamps to represent one of the show's five seasons, starting with season one on the left.
Exclusive Art and Hidden Details
The stamps boast an impressive creative pedigree, having been exclusively designed by renowned British artist Kyle Lambert, the illustrator behind the official season posters for Stranger Things. Fans will find two sheets of five stamps each, plus a separate miniature sheet. This special sheet features the four core friends—Lucas, Will, Mike, and Dustin—riding their iconic 1980s-style bicycles.
Adding an extra layer of collectibility, the stamps include a secret feature. When a UV light is shone over them, iconic logos from the series magically appear. Millie Bobby Brown's powerful character, Eleven, is prominently featured, appearing on two of the 14 stamps in the collection.
Celebrating a Decade-Long Phenomenon
David Gold, Director of External Affairs & Policy at Royal Mail, expressed the organisation's enthusiasm for the project. "We're thrilled to celebrate Stranger Things with this striking stamp collection," he said. "Each design captures the essence of the series – from its unforgettable characters to the eerie imagery that has gripped audiences worldwide – making this a true tribute to one of modern television's most popular shows."
The series first arrived on Netflix in 2016 and has captivated viewers for nearly a decade. Its finale was released in the UK at 1am on New Year's Day, drawing such a massive simultaneous audience that it temporarily caused the streaming service to crash. In the climactic episodes, fans saw Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), and the rest of the gang make their final stand against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and the Mind Flayer, striving to close the gateway between worlds for good.
