ECHO readers have voted overwhelmingly for their own Sunday roast as the best in Merseyside, despite being asked not to consider family efforts. Hundreds of votes were cast, but the general consensus pointed to somewhere we specifically requested you not to consider.
Reader survey results
The votes have been tallied and verified, but unlike our other reader surveys, the results were a little difficult to analyse. Liverpool has an incredible selection of restaurants serving Sunday roasts, from cheap and affordable options to veggie alternatives and kids' portions. However, the real winner was some place we explicitly asked you not to consider.
There were very little votes to differentiate placements on the list, but a few notable names continued to appear. The Watering Can on Greenbank Road is known for its record breaking Sunday services, while the Sefton Park Hotel was praised for its giant portions and thick gravy. The Blackburn Arms on Catherine Street was credited as another "slap-up Sunday feast".
Popular venues named
Wavertree Town Hall, which reopened under new owners earlier in the year, was a relative newcomer to the scene. Voyagers, part of The Halyard Hotel on Parr Street, was another well-loved establishment.
All of the above and many more received just a fraction of the votes awarded to the overall winner. Unfortunately, we can't reveal the exact figures because, rather ironically, despite hundreds of votes being cast, there are hundreds of winners.
Readers choose family roasts
ECHO readers have unanimously decided that their own Sunday roast is the best in Merseyside by a wide margin. We specifically asked you not to vote for "your mas or your nan's", but you went ahead and did it anyway.
If you believe your family has the best Sunday roast in Merseyside, we want to hear from you for a follow up story. If you think yours is the best because of ingredients, taste, image or something else entirely, email christopher.megrath@reachplc.com and we will be back in touch.
