The Rolling Stones have officially announced that their upcoming album will be titled Foreign Tongues, set for release on July 10. The news follows months of cryptic teasers, including mysterious billboards and social media posts that sparked speculation about a new record.
Band members Sir Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, and Keith Richards shared the album artwork on Saturday, each posting a different portion of the cover. Sir Mick revealed the bottom part, showing an illustration of his mouth and chin; Wood shared the middle section, featuring his eyes and nose; and Richards completed the puzzle with the top half, depicting messy hair and a multicoloured bandana.
On Friday, the band posted a 13-second video snippet of an unnamed song, accompanied by their iconic tongue and lips logo and a CD emoji, further fuelling rumours of a new album. The project will be their first since 2023's Grammy-winning Hackney Diamonds.
Speculation began last month when cryptic posters and QR codes linked to the pseudonym The Cockroaches appeared around London. The band has reportedly performed and released music under this alias, including a limited-edition vinyl single titled Rough And Twisted on April 11, sold exclusively at independent record stores.
Formed in London in 1962, The Rolling Stones have achieved 14 UK number one albums and eight number one singles, including classics like (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction and Paint It Black. Following the death of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021, Steve Jordan has joined the line-up alongside Sir Mick, Richards, and Wood.
