Netflix's Perfect Pride and Prejudice Leaves June 20

Netflix viewers have been urged to watch a "perfect" Jane Austen adaptation on the streaming service before it leaves the platform for good. The 2005 film Pride and Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, will be removed from Netflix on June 20.

A Beloved Adaptation

The film, directed by Joe Wright in his feature directorial debut, is based on Jane Austen's classic 1813 novel. It follows the Bennet family—Mr. and Mrs. Bennet and their five daughters—as they navigate love and social standing in late 18th-century England. Knightley plays Elizabeth Bennet, who initially clashes with the seemingly arrogant Mr. Darcy, played by Macfadyen, before romance blossoms.

The movie was a commercial success, earning $121.6 million worldwide on a $28 million budget. Knightley received an Oscar nomination for her performance, and the film holds an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critical Acclaim

Critics have praised the casting, direction, and faithful adaptation of Austen's themes. One reviewer called it "impeccable," while another noted it "shines as a leading benchmark of a breathtaking adaptation." A third added that the film allows the timeless tale to "gain new life without sacrificing any of its narrative importance."

With just days remaining, fans are encouraged to stream the film before it disappears from Netflix.
