Andrew O’Hagan’s coming-of-age novel about 1980s youth gets a site-specific adaptation by Grid Iron in a former metalworks doubling as a Manchester gig venue, adapted and directed by Ben Harrison. It plays at Brown’s of Leith from 7 to 30 August.

Paines Plough’s Katie Posner directs an epic drama by Morna Young where family secrets erupt on the night of an actor’s 80th birthday party, billed as a darkly comic exploration of personal freedoms. It runs at the Traverse from 6 to 30 August, with a post-festival run at the Belgrade, Coventry.
