Corrie fans distracted by Sarah Platt detail in court trial

Coronation Street fans were distracted by a detail in Sarah Platt's appearance as she struggled in court, with the character now on trial months after admitting to killing Theo Silverton.

Viewers of the ITV soap, filmed in Salford, will recall Sarah's confession came weeks after Theo's lifeless body was found by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa's wedding to Carla Connor, which took place on April 23.

It wasn't until a week after the wedding aired that it was confirmed Theo had died, after the murder was teased to be him and four other Weatherfield villains - Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Megan Walsh and Maggie Driscoll.

The murder investigation

Theo's death triggered a murder investigation, with Corrie confirming Theo's husband, Todd Grimshaw, as a suspect, along with his loved ones, George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, as well as Theo's friend-turned enemy, Gary Windass, and Theo's ex-wife, Danielle Silverton.

Weeks after the 'whodunnit' got underway, flashback scenes aired in June revealed that it was none of the six, and that it was Sarah who appeared to deal the blow that sent a drunk Theo tumbling off the scaffolding outside his flat and plummeting to the ground - before she called on her former flame, Gary Windass, for help.

As Todd struggled in the aftermath of his abusive husband's murder, Sarah ended up confessing the truth of her crime to her best friend, while her partner, DC Kit Green, found out when she admitted to killing Theo as he was trying to pop the question.

The trial gets underway

Despite Kit's attempts to help cover up her crime, Sarah was arrested on suspicion of killing Theo. She was later charged as the evidence stacked against her, and Sarah ended up admitting to the murder, telling DS Lisa Connor-Swain it was in self-defence.

During Wednesday's (October 14) episode, the trial was seen getting underway, as Sarah's family, Bethany, David and Shona Platt, and her former husband Adam Barlow, all headed to court, and listened as Sarah appeared in the dock, as the prosecution barrister told the jury that Sarah had attacked Theo in support of her best friend, Todd Grimshaw, after learning of his abuse at the hands of his husband, Theo.

Lisa and Theo's ex-wife, Danielle, was seen giving their evidence, which didn't go in Sarah's favour, with the accused being taken back to her cell when she protested her innocence and went against Danielle in telling the jury that Theo was abusive.
