Art Garfunkel has postponed his four UK concerts scheduled for later this month, citing unforeseen circumstances. The 85-year-old singer's team confirmed the dates in Watford, Manchester, Wolverhampton and London's Royal Albert Hall will not go ahead as planned.
Rescheduling and tickets
Garfunkel's team said they are working with venues to reschedule the dates and that announcements will be made shortly. Ticket holders have been asked to keep their original tickets, which will remain valid for the new dates. The team added: "We appreciate your patience and understanding."
The What a Wonderful World tour has been travelling across the US and Europe since July and is set to conclude on November 19. Earlier this year, Garfunkel postponed a concert at Robinson Center scheduled for June 18, citing a recording conflict.
Reflections on Simon & Garfunkel
The singer, best known for his partnership with Paul Simon, recently spoke about an emotional reunion with his former bandmate. He told People Magazine: "There were tears, there were hugs. I don't know if it'll lead to anything. I don't think so much about him as I think about what's ahead of me. I'm feeling very positive now."
In June, Garfunkel said his voice sounds better than ever, adding: "In a way, you're always back to square one. If you're not alive and happening now, what are you? You can't live on your past. You've got to keep going with a meaningful agenda."
Simon & Garfunkel scored hits such as "Sounds of Silence" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and sold over 100 million records worldwide. Garfunkel, however, always felt at a "disadvantage" in the partnership because he was a singer only while Simon wrote the songs.
The pair reunited for an iconic 1981 concert in Central Park, New York, and toured again, but cancelled a planned series of concerts in 2010 due to problems with Garfunkel's vocal chords. They have not played together since.
