Family 'devastated' as body found in Colombia search

The family of a British man who went missing in Colombia earlier this year has been told a body believed to be his has been found.

Anton Green, 43, from Whalley Range, Manchester, moved to Colombia two-and-a-half years ago. His family raised the alarm in August when they had not heard from him.

He was last heard from on August 6, prompting authorities to launch a major search for the British man.

Family informed of discovery

Speaking to The Mirror, the family said they are trying to come to terms with the news, which arrived shortly after they renewed their appeal for information.

His sister, Sian Tuohey, told the outlet two weeks ago how the search for Anton was affecting the family.

“It was easy to stay positive in the beginning, but it's got to the point definitely for me and my mum where we're losing sleep,” Sian said. “We're very anxious throughout the day. We don’t know what’s happened but with all this time, you start imagining the worst and making up your own conclusions.”

Search impact

The family said they are devastated by the development, which comes after months of uncertainty.
