Hollywood icon Catherine Zeta-Jones has opened up about the surprising advice she received when she first started dating her now-husband Michael Douglas – and it wasn't exactly encouraging.
The Welsh actress, 54, revealed that people warned her against pursuing a relationship with the veteran actor, who is 25 years her senior. "I was told, 'Don't go there. It won't last'," Zeta-Jones confessed in a recent interview.
Defying the Doubters
Despite the scepticism from others, the couple proved their critics wrong. They tied the knot in 2000 and have been together for nearly a quarter of a century, raising two children – Dylan, 23, and Carys, 20.
"We've had our ups and downs like any marriage," Zeta-Jones admitted. "But what matters is that we've always come out stronger."
The Secret to Their Success
The Oscar-winning actress credits their lasting union to mutual respect and understanding. "Michael and I give each other space to grow as individuals while nurturing our relationship," she explained.
Zeta-Jones also praised Douglas's parenting skills, saying: "He's an incredible father. Our children adore him, and that means everything to me."
As the couple approaches their 24th wedding anniversary, their love story continues to inspire fans worldwide – proving that sometimes, it's worth ignoring the naysayers.
