Vogue Williams denies breaking Covid rules with St Barts holiday

Vogue Williams has denied breaking government Covid rules after flying to St Barts in the Caribbean with her husband Spencer Matthews and their two children in December. The model and presenter faced criticism after reports emerged that she travelled abroad while London was under tier 4 restrictions, which banned non-essential travel.

On 19 December, the prime minister announced tougher restrictions for large parts of southeast England, including London. Under tier 4 regulations, people could only travel internationally or within the UK with a legally permitted reason. The guidelines stated: “You should not travel abroad unless it is permitted. This means you must not go on holiday.”

Williams has since returned to London and is not required to self-isolate because St Barts is on England's travel corridor list. In a statement on Instagram, she said: “I would like to assure my lovely Instagram family that I have not broken the government guidelines since rules and guidance came into effect last March. I also had Covid tests to ensure I travelled safely and I adhered to all safety guidelines recommended. It's not ideal to be away working during these times but it had been booked in since last year...”

The family stayed at Eden Rock, a resort owned by Matthews's family. The Independent has contacted a representative for Williams for further comment.
