Victoria Beckham's Single Soars in Charts After Brooklyn Row

Victoria Beckham has achieved her first number one chart positions since 2000, with her 2001 single 'Not Such an Innocent Girl' topping the UK Official Singles Sales and Official Download charts. The resurgence follows revelations about a family rift with her eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham.

Brooklyn's bombshell account of his mother dancing 'on' him at his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz prompted fans to show support by buying the song. Sales and streams rose 19,615% compared to the previous week, according to the Official Charts Company, although exact numbers were not disclosed.

The single did not crack the primary Top 100 chart, which combines streams and sales. Beckham's debut solo single, 'Out of Your Mind', was beaten to number one by Spiller and Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)'. Her only number ones as a solo artist have now come on these fringe charts.

Beckham originally released 'Not Such an Innocent Girl' in 2001, competing with Kylie Minogue's 'Can't Get You Out of My Head'. Minogue's song became a generation-defining smash, selling 306,000 copies in its first week, while Beckham's reached number six with just 35,000 sales.

Beckham, the only Spice Girl to release just one solo album, left music behind to pursue fashion. Two rumoured albums, 'Open Your Eyes' and 'Come Together', were never officially released but later leaked online.
