Vernon Kay's Cheeky Response to Viral Hands TikTok

BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay, 52, has responded humorously after a TikTok video of a woman admiring his hand prints went viral. During his show, colleague Ellie Brennan brought up the clip, which shows a woman in Blackpool reacting to a monument of Kay's hands.

Discovery of the Viral Video

Vernon prompted the discussion, asking Ellie about a video that had gone viral on TikTok. Ellie explained that she had been sent the clip several times, describing it as a video of a woman who found a monument, which Vernon clarified was a moulding of his hands. He explained that he had opened a ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and the moulding was placed there to commemorate the event.

Ellie noted that the woman in the video was "flabbergasted at the size of your hands." Vernon responded with a quip about his American Football days, saying, "Well that's why in a 10 game season, playing American Football for the London Warriors, I had nine interceptions." Ellie countered, "That's not really what she was saying," prompting Vernon to laugh and add, "Yeah, I can catch in my big mitts."

Vernon's Instagram Follow-Up

After the on-air exchange, Vernon posted on Instagram a close-up photo of his thumb with a caption referencing the show and his hands, inviting listeners to tune in the next day.

The TikTok, posted by Ellena Walker with the caption "Blimey Vernon," shows her and friends placing their smaller hands inside the prints while Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" plays. The plaque reads: "Vernon Kay opened Infusion at Pleasure Beach Blackpool on 6th June 2007." At the time of writing, the video had received 19,000 likes, 167 comments, and 4,917 shares.
