Tuchel Confirms Commitment to England After Semi-Final Heartbreak
Thomas Tuchel has explicitly confirmed that he is '100%' committed to staying on as England manager following the team's heartbreaking 2-1 defeat against Argentina in the World Cup semi-final. Speaking after the match, Tuchel said: 'I have a contract until the home Euros and I’m looking forward to that even like now it is difficult to look that far ahead.'
Previous Statements on Failure and Ambition
Upon his unveiling as England boss in 2024, Tuchel admitted that failure at the World Cup could affect his future. He stated: 'If we decide it was a failure, then we will not continue.' However, during the final squad selection announcements ahead of the tournament, he emphasized the team's ambition: 'The goal is to try and win it. We don't want to be shy about it, but also to respect the game and our opponents and the obstacles that come with the tournament itself.'
Upcoming Matches and Nations League Campaign
England must first complete their current tournament journey with a third-place play-off match against France at Miami Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off at 10pm BST. After the World Cup concludes, Tuchel will have a brief period to regroup before the UEFA Nations League 2026/27 group stage begins. The Three Lions are placed in Group A3 and will start their campaign on September 26 against Spain at Wembley Stadium.
England has three matches lined up for the UEFA Nations League, and tickets can be purchased from Seat Unique for the Spain and Czechia fixtures.
