John Boyega has revealed that he married model and actress Lashontae Heckard, known as Tae Heckard, in a private ceremony two years ago. The Star Wars star confirmed the news in a recent interview with The Guardian, where he also shared that the couple is expecting their first son.

While Boyega did not name his wife during the interview, a new Instagram post confirmed Heckard as his wife and the mother of his future son. Sharing a photo of himself with a heavily pregnant Heckard, Boyega wrote: “Our bundle of joy has been with us for some time now but thank you for all the well wishes. Also my sister is about to pop! Wish her well too!”
Heckard commented under the post, “Love and blessings to my Blessing!!!!,” while other friends congratulated the couple. The confirmation came on Wednesday, October 14, after fans had speculated about the pair's relationship.
Clues and Career
Before the announcement, fans noticed that Boyega and Heckard only exclusively follow each other on Instagram, and Heckard changed her name on the platform to Tae Boyega. In an Instagram carousel last month, she shared a zoomed-in photo of Boyega’s face as she used the reflection in his sunglasses to take a selfie, along with a cartoon sketch of the two holding hands. Boyega commented on the post: “So this is why you cook Pounded yam and egusi on Saturdays?? a tactical weapon of mass plan-canceling. I'm onto you lover.”
Heckard, 48, is an actor and model best known for her appearances on the BET series The Game, a show about women in relationships with professional football players. She has also appeared in Busta Rhymes' music video for the song "Where I Belong" featuring Mariah Carey. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Heckard was previously engaged to basketball player Brandon Jennings, with whom she shares a child born in 2015.
