Sunetra Sarker's Life: Ex-Husband's Death, Freak Accident, and Career
Sunetra Sarker: Ex-Husband's Death, Accident, New Role

Sunetra Sarker, known for her roles on Loose Women, Brookside, and Casualty, has faced significant personal challenges, including the death of her ex-husband and a freak accident that left her struggling to walk. She also recently took on a new comedy role in the BBC series The Hairdresser Mysteries.

Ex-Husband's Death

In July 2026, Sarker revealed on Gabby Logan's The Mid Point podcast that her ex-husband, Nick Corfield, had died two years prior. The couple married in 2003 and had a son, Noah, before divorcing. Sarker described the loss as a "big, massive bombshell" and noted that Nick was "very young." She said, "I don't even think I've still processed Nick's passing but we then focused a lot on Noah." She keeps Nick's memory "very present" as Noah is "worried about forgetting" him.

Second Marriage

Sarker married Scott Carey in 2018 after reconnecting at a college reunion. They had known each other in the 1990s but both went through divorces before reuniting. Sarker described their connection as a "thunderbolt" and said, "We're like soppy teenagers who leave each other surprise love notes." The couple held two ceremonies: one British and one Indian.

Freak Accident

In 2025, Sarker appeared on Loose Women and recounted a series of accidents that left her in agony. She sprained her right ankle while trying to put her foot in a slipper, describing it as a "dead leg" incident. Six weeks later, on her way to physio, her flip-flop caught under a doormat, causing her to trip and sprain her left ankle. She ended up in casualty for six hours, where she was recognized by fans. She called the experience "awful."

New Role in The Hairdresser Mysteries

Sarker stars as Wincey Evans in the BBC's new cosy crime drama The Hairdresser Mysteries, alongside Sally Phillips, Charlotte Jordan, Ben Castle-Gibb, and Wendi Peters. This marks her first comedy role, which she described as "the furthest away from anything else I've played." She said, "I've never done comedy before, but I think when you've grown up watching comedies, some of it just seeps in." Sally Phillips praised Sarker's comedy skills, saying, "Sunetra Sarker's comedy chops. She's not done comedy before. She's absolutely hilarious - never misses a beat." The series is available on BBC iPlayer and airs weekly on Fridays at 2pm on BBC One.
