In a revealing new podcast episode, Patrick J. Adams, the former co-star of Meghan Markle on the hit television series Suits, has opened up about his experiences with the Duchess of Sussex. Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast with host Amanda Hirsch, Adams disclosed that he frequently received eye rolls from Meghan during their time working together.
Eye Rolls and Instagram Bio Banter
Adams, who portrayed Michael Ross in the legal drama, stated, 'Eye rolls were a constant with Meghan.' This comment emerged after Hirsch inquired about his Instagram bio, which humorously reads: 'The other guy from that show that you're watching on that app because that girl married that prince.' In a clip shared by People magazine, Adams joked, 'I've got to change that,' noting that such quips would typically prompt an eye roll from the Duchess.
He elaborated, 'I got a lot of eye rolls. That was a constant with Meghan, her rolling her eyes at me like, 'Oh my god, what are you doing?'' Adams clarified that Meghan has never directly addressed his bio, but he added, 'It's going to have to change soon.'
Handwritten Notes and Personal Insights
Elsewhere in the podcast, Adams discussed the 'insane' experiences Meghan has endured in the public eye. Hirsch revealed that she received a handwritten note from Meghan after posting about the Duchess's project, With Love, Meghan, on Instagram following the release of its initial trailer. Hirsch explained, 'I was worried that this trailer would have people at her throat again, and she wrote me a note saying, basically saying, 'Thank you for being afraid for me, but don't be, it'll be fine.''
Adams echoed this sentiment, stating, 'What she's gone through is insane.' He also shared that he has received handwritten notes from Meghan over the years, praising her penmanship: 'Her handwriting is like a work of art, truly, it's astonishing.' Hirsch humorously noted that she received a package of Meghan's As Ever spread and flower sprinkles, unlike Adams, who quipped, 'I don't have enough followers I don't think.'
Communication and Cast Dynamics
Adams previously confirmed that he has had no recent communication with Meghan following the resurgence of Suits on streaming platforms. In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, alongside co-star Gabriel Macht, they were asked if they had spoken to Meghan Markle recently. Macht responded, 'I have not communicated with her other than seeing her big support for the resurgence, and that has been really nice.' Adams added, 'Zero. No, no communication,' before jokingly pretending to receive a call from her.
At the Golden Globes in January 2024, Adams and Macht presented an award and were joined by fellow Suits stars Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty. Torres revealed that the cast simply 'don't have [Meghan's] number' when asked if anyone had reached out to her. An insider told Page Six that Meghan was invited to the event but couldn't attend due to a 'previous commitment.'
Suits Legacy and Popularity
Suits originally aired on USA Network for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019, featuring Meghan Markle as Rachel Zane, a paralegal who becomes a formidable attorney and marries Adams's character, Mike Ross. The show experienced a revived popularity after its arrival on Netflix. While walking the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Gabriel Macht discussed this resurgence, saying, 'It's an amazing thing. We had some great success when the show was on... and then at a certain point, Netflix came in. It's just gotten incredible eyes and we're very grateful for it.'
This podcast episode offers a rare glimpse into the personal dynamics between Meghan Markle and her former Suits colleagues, highlighting both the lighthearted moments and the challenges she has faced in the spotlight.
