Veteran stripper John Woodward, 52, has revealed he once needed a tetanus injection after a woman bit his manhood during a performance, mistaking it for a prosthetic.
Woodward, who now manages the UK Pleasure Boys stripping ensemble after retiring from performing, shared the gruesome details of his 30-year career in adult entertainment. He told the Daily Mail: "I had to go to get a tetanus injection once. This lady bit me down there because she thought it was a prosthetic and then it wouldn’t stop bleeding."
Occupational Hazards
Woodward has also been left with claw marks across his body and bite marks on his nipples, but he says these were not the most painful experiences. He explained: "That wasn’t even the worst pain, though – that was when I was poked sharply in the belly button by a long fingernail. That really winded me."
He continued: "I’ve had nails jabbed in other places too, places they had no business being, but it’s part of the job. You’ve got to try to create an exciting show and do it without getting injured or letting the audience go too far."
Viral Controversy
Woodward's troop recently faced criticism after footage from a "Wet ’n’ Wild" show in Oxfordshire went viral on social media. Non-league team Banbury FC, which hosted the Pleasure Boys in its clubhouse, issued an apology after "part of the performance towards the end went beyond what we find acceptable". The club added: "We apologise to anyone in attendance who was offended."
Woodward, who was present that night and conducted a review of the incident in his role as director of the UK Pleasure Boys, said the video clips were "edited to take things out of context completely".
Defending the Show
After videos circulated online, social media users expressed outrage, with one eyewitness reportedly describing it as "the closest thing to an orgy I have ever seen". Woodward, however, insisted it "wasn't an orgy" and explained the three incidents that fuelled the online fury: a woman "reached up and did something that was not acceptable" to a performer dancing on a table, another performer was seen hovering over a woman on the floor, and a woman used a man's appendage as a microphone to sing along to the music.
Woodward said: "It wasn’t an orgy – the rest of the crowd was just normal. It was all pretty standard stuff, you know." He added that most of his clients simply want to "unwind and enjoy a drink with their mates".
