Stacey Dooley reveals knicker-flashing Strictly tour mishap

Former Strictly Come Dancing champion Stacey Dooley has revealed that her "most embarrassing moment" occurred during the show's nationwide tour. With her partner Kevin Clifton, she claimed the Glitterball Trophy in 2018 before participating in the live tour. During one of the performances, Stacey endured a humiliating wardrobe mishap when she inadvertently exposed her underwear.

Skirt falls down at the O2

Asked about her most embarrassing moment, she told The Guardian's Saturday Magazine: "When I was doing the Strictly Live tour at the 02, my skirt fell down.

"So I am stood in the middle of the 02 in my knickers and they weren't even my knickers, they were big borrowed stage briefs."

Paso Doble mishap in the final

Stacey also experienced a wardrobe malfunction while performing her Paso Doble routine in the final. During the dance, the presenter unintentionally revealed her beige pants as she whipped her skirt around as part of the choreography.

Commenting on the gaffe afterwards, she wrote on X: "I've won Strictly and flashed my knickers. A perfect Sat night."

Life with Kevin Clifton

Stacey and Kevin got together in 2019 and have stayed together since. In 2023, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Minnie. Speaking warmly about her partner in the same interview, Stacey revealed that her first kiss with Kevin was the best of her life.

The Strictly champion has also recently spoken candidly about their home life, acknowledging that Kevin has minimal input regarding household decisions. Appearing on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, she said: "I don't want Kev to offer any opinions whatsoever, which is really healthy isn't it?". The podcast host responded by telling her: "Listen, you're running a dictatorship," to which Stacey concurred, declaring that she had "all the power".

Elaborating further on their property, she disclosed: "I live in Liverpool and I've basically got this beautiful old house and I really feel the business in it. You know when you go to view a house and you're like, 'There's not a world where I'd be able to afford this', but then you can, but only because I'm up North," she went on to say.

Stacey has previously spoken out about why she has no intention of tying the knot with Kevin in the near future. She told The Sun: "Marriage has never been massively important to me." Referencing Kevin's former marriages, she continued: "Also, it's well documented that Kev's done it a couple of times before. So, you do have to bear that in mind, coming down the aisle like, 'Hello everyone, I know what you're all thinking.' It's just never been something I've dreamt about," she added.

The professional dancer was previously wed to Clare Craze from 2007 to 2013 before going on to marry fellow Strictly star Karen Hauer. It is also understood that Kevin married Latin world champion Anna Melnikova in 2003, when he was 20 years old.
