Slice of William and Kate's Wedding Cake for Sale

A 15-year-old slice of the wedding cake from Prince William and Catherine Middleton's 2011 nuptials has emerged for sale at a price of £1,500. The piece of fruit cake, measuring three inches by two inches, remains wrapped in paper and preserved within its commemorative tin inscribed with 'William and Catherine, April 29, 2011'.

Preserved Keepsakes

The slice was retained by the Duchess of Cambridge's friend, Juli Kavanagh, alongside other wedding day ephemera and two heartfelt cards from the Princess. One of the cards, dated 2017, was written by Kate on behalf of her eldest son, Prince George, who was four years old at the time. The thank-you note to Judi reveals that George adored his large T-Rex toy present, which 'stands guard outside my bedroom'. It reads: 'Thank you so much for my very cool birthday present. I love the huge T-Rex and I keep it outside my bedroom to stand guard...with love, George x.' The card was signed by the young prince.

The wedding cake itself was a towering 3-foot tall, eight-tiered fruit cake decorated with super paste flowers, weighing an impressive 220 pounds. It was designed by Fiona Cairns. More than 5,000 street parties were held across the UK to celebrate the wedding, with one million people lining the route between Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. The sale is scheduled to take place on May 28.
