Scott Bryce Dies at 68 After Cancer Battle
Scott Bryce, the Emmy-nominated actor best known for playing Craig Montgomery on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns, died on July 12, 2026, at the age of 68, after a long battle with cancer. His son Jackson announced the news on Instagram, revealing that Bryce had been fighting stage three esophageal cancer that eventually spread to his brain.

Son's Moving Tribute
In an emotional Instagram post, Jackson Bryce wrote: "God called my dad home today. This evening my father lost his long-fought battle with cancer. What began as stage three esophageal cancer eventually spread and became brain tumors that took his life away from him." He added that his father faced the illness "with pride and courage, and an unshakable belief that somehow, everything would work out."
Jackson described how, just a week before his death, despite slurred speech and blurry vision from brain tumors, Bryce told him he still believed he had a chance and was willing to fight as hard as it took.
Legacy on As the World Turns
Scott Bryce's portrayal of Craig Montgomery made him a household name among soap opera fans. The character was a central figure in the show's storylines during the 1980s and early 1990s, and Bryce's return in 2007 was met with enthusiasm from longtime viewers.
Beyond As the World Turns, Bryce had guest roles on other television series, but his legacy remains tied to the iconic soap. His death marks the loss of a beloved figure in daytime television.
