Rolling Stones Announce New Single Jealous Lover

The Rolling Stones have announced their new single Jealous Lover will “deliver a pointed warning to an over-inquisitive lover”. The track features former Spencer Davis Group and Traffic musician Steve Winwood and will be released on June 26.

New Album Foreign Tongues

Jealous Lover will feature on the rock band’s upcoming 25th studio album Foreign Tongues, which will be released next month. The album will also feature guest appearances by Sir Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith.

The single is set to offer another example of the band moving between musical styles and embraces a soulful R&B groove, anchored by a falsetto lead vocal from frontman Sir Mick Jagger.

Band Comments

Representatives for the band said the song “combines infectious melodies, rich musicianship and sharp lyrical observations”. The track is powered by guitar work from Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, while the rhythm section comes from Darryl Jones on bass and Steve Jordan on drums.

The Rolling Stones teased new music at the start of May, sharing a 13-second video on social media which featured a snippet from an unnamed song playing in the background and two emojis, including one of a CD. They then revealed the name of the album and released the songs Rough And Twisted and In The Stars.

Speaking about the new album, singer Sir Mick said: “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Richards added: “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it. I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”

Wood said of the album: “The atmosphere in the room was so creative and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process. Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it.”
